Art Framing Tips
Share
Professional framing is wonderful. You can choose colors and styles that perfectly complement your artwork and décor. The quality of custom framing is unbeatable.
However, custom framing isn’t always practical or affordable. The good news is, there are plenty of other great options.
First, a quick note: All of my prints are created in standard sizes, so you’ll always be able to find a ready-made frame. A custom frame is never required.
Easy Frame Options
• Thrift stores or charity shops
These places often have lots of frames at very low prices. If a frame you like is missing glass, you can easily buy replacement glass at a craft store or online.
• Craft supply stores
Craft stores usually have large framing sections with many styles and a wide range of prices. They also frequently offer sales and coupons.
• Dollar, Pound, or Euro stores
You’ll find very inexpensive frames in many styles here. Just keep in mind they may not last as long as they tend to be a bit more delicate.
A Simple Seasonal Tip
If you like changing artwork throughout the year, invest in one nice neutral frame that works with many designs. Then simply swap the artwork as the seasons change.
For example, an 8×10 frame works beautifully on a desk or in a small wall grouping. When fall, Christmas, or spring arrives, just change the print(s) to refresh the space.
Even a simple design looks so much better in a frame, and framing also protects prints from wear and damage.
Tip: If you’d like to add a mat to enhance your print, craft stores and online shops carry them in many standard sizes.
